During the period of July-September 2019, a number of primary school teachers in Kampala and Entebbe were equipped with skills in promoting reading among children and also introduced to e-reading. These teachers were from schools including Bat Valley Primary School, Buganda Road Primary School, Gayaza Church of Uganda Primary School, Kasangati Muslim Primary School, St. Bernadette Primary School, Nkumba Primary School, Convert Primary School, and Nansana Central Academy. Over 1,200 children have enjoyed re-reading in the above schools.

A number of school librarians from schools like Buganda Road Primary School, Kitante Primary School, and Kalinabiri Primary School were trained at the National Library of Uganda in handling school children while in the library, engaging them in library activities like reading and bookmaking by a volunteer (Hyunkyung Hwang) from KOICA with assistance from NLU staff.

Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) is a government aid agency of the Republic of Korea (ROK), founded in 1991. KOICA implements Korea's grant and technical cooperation of the ROK, supporting the socio-economic development of many developing countries including Uganda. KOICA has been of great help to NLU in the extension of its services to school libraries in Uganda.

KOICA further bought children’s storybooks and these were processed with the help of NLU staff. These books included a collection of Peter and Jane, Ladybird books and Peppa Pig, curriculum supporting books (like literature novels, atlases, biology and chemistry textbooks) and bookshelves and stocked the libraries at Gayaza High School, Kalinabiri Primary School, and Buganda Road Primary School as a way of promoting a reading culture and education in Uganda.
