New vacancies at the National Library of |Uganda (NLU) for positions of Digital Literacy Coach and Project Assistant for Digital Skills @your local library Project
The National Library of Uganda (NLU) is a government of Uganda Semi-Autonomous institutional mandated to collect, preserve and disseminate Uganda’s documented heritage and to oversee the development of libraries in the country. NLU’s mission is to collect, preserve and disseminate Uganda’s documented heritage and provide professional leadership for the delivery of library and information services to public and community libraries and to promote Literacy in the country.
Currently less than half of Uganda population is using Internet and one of key barriers is a lack of digital literacy. In response to this situation, NLU has received a grant from EIFL one of its development partners and has developed a “Digital skills@your local library” project that will be implemented using sustainable basic digital and mobile literacy programmes in public and community libraries across Uganda with the youth and women being targeted.
The project will skill librarians to become effective trainers and providing meaningful digital skills training. The goal is to link youth and women, who will go through digital literacy training, with beneficial online content and learning opportunities.
To effectively implement the project, NLU is low looking for well qualified staff to fill the
following contract positions:
