Librarian- Reference Services

Salary Scale U4-Lower (7,216,087 – 9,582,418 p.a)

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

         I.            Selection of Information materials based on the user needs and requirements;

       II.            Creation & maintenance of information access tools such as catalogues,

     III.            indexes, abstracts, and databases;

    IV.            Providing user services such as literature searches, CAS, SDI, reference,

      V.            photocopy and internet services;

    VI.            Receiving & clearing all new acquisitions in the library;

   VII.            Data entry into database such as KOHA system, spine labeling and proper

 VIII.            shelving;

     IX.            Electronic Information Resources provision to users;

       X.            Ensure proportionate use of the library computers and the internet services

     XI.            in general; Registration of library users and maintenance of receipt books;

   XII.            Special responsibility for General Reference and Special collections;

 XIII.            Charging and discharging of library reference materials.;

 XIV.            Any other duties as signed.

 

 

Qualifications

 

Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLIS) from a recognized institution with a minimum of 3 years working experience in a reputable Library service. Must be computer knowledgeable

 

Terms of appointment:

Five (5) year Contract (Renewable upon satisfactory performance) for all positions
